Cold but clear

30th December 2025

A much better day with the cloud clearing to allow a blue sky view and some sunshine – which was very much needed as it was bitterly cold first thing. Many paths have water-ice on them or ice glazed rocks. There has been a trace of new snow above 600 metres giving the hills a more wintery appearance. The weather is now slowly starting to change with the high pressure system slipping South allowing an Arctic Maritime airmass to take its place. A Met Office yellow weather warning for snow is in place for the area from 06:00 hrs on the 1st January.
