Broad Cairn

27th December 2025

Icy conditions first thing with patches of water-ice and ice glazed rocks from glen level. Thick bands of cloud gave damp conditions and very poor visibility at the summit of Broad Cairn (998m). There was a strong, cold NE wind which was great for keeping you moving – not much sitting around today! Only small shallow patches of snow on Broad Cairn but the summit boulder field was a bit slippery. No real change for tomorrow – dry conditions with a temperature inversion. Winds will become light, variable  – so more pleasant than today. Photo opportunities were very limited today.
