Sun and snow patches…
3rd April 2025
After an overnight frost it was a warm and sunny day in the Southern Cairngorms. Easterly winds kept temperatures cool on the higher ground.
The remaining snow patches are confined to the North-West to East facing coires and gullies above 1000 metres on the higher mountains along the Northern boundary off the forecast area.

Looking down into Coire nan Clach on Beinn a’Bhuird. The snow depth at the top is still over 3 metres deep.

A Ptarmigan sticking to the snow patches while it waits for its plumage to transform to summer colours.
