Smoke on the Water (Lochan)…

2nd April 2025

Another beautiful spring day with plenty of sunshine. The strong Southerly winds kept things cool on the higher ground.

After a cloud free night the remaining snow patches had re-frozen, becoming firm and icy. On sun exposed aspects the snow patches softened during the day. The main concentration of snow patches remain along the higher mountain on the Northern boundary of the Southern Cairngorms forecast area.

High pressure remains dominant for the next few days, meaning that there will be little change to the size and distribution of the snow cover.

Smoke on the Water/Lochan, the strong Southerly winds funnelled the smoke from Muir burning into the glens rather allowing it to disperse.
