No Viz…

22nd March 2025

No visibility and pretty much no snow ! After a mild night with plus 5 at 900m and some rain, the remaining snow has continued to thaw. The lower hills around the Glenshee ski area have very little snow left. Generally it is the 1000 metre or 1100 metre hills that have the larger remaining areas, usually on the shady Northern aspects.

The freezing level is due to lower overnight but the South Cairngorms isn’t going to be quite as cold as the North Cairngorms forecast area, who have been forecasted a reasonable amount of snow along with their 1000m freezing level. South Cairngorms will mainly just get a thin layer of snow on the summits but along the higher Northern boundary mountains, there could be more. Please read the North Cairngorms report if heading into the main Cairngorms tomorrow.

The cloud base was down to 500m today so there was no visibility on the hills. No real photo opportunities either.

No viz…and very little snow. A few, very small patches left around the ski area.
