More snow than expected?
10th February 2025
Compared to yesterday’s observations, today felt very different. For the past few days, we’ve been stuck under the cloud with multiple snow flurries passing through. Although these have been light in nature, accumulatively more snowfall has probably fell than was expected.
Above 900 metres, away from the wind exposed features, there is fresh snow opposed to a mere dusting. Drifting was evident and where the snowpack has gained depth, instabilities exist in new windslab on West and North-West aspects above 900m in steep wind sheltered locations.
Clear in the morning, looking up Glas Maol from Meall Odhar.
Little Glas Maol.
Just before the clag engulfed everybody.
Creag Leacach Ridge with another of those insignificant snow flurries rolling in.
Looking down to Meall Odhar.
