The calm before the storm.

22nd January 2025

Not many changes to report today, a very calm and cold day on Lochnagar with a couple of Deeside Runners, a few walkers and an army group enjoying the day.

Still no formal Avalanche Hazard today but we have issued a Low hazard for tomorrow (Thursday). You will probably be aware there is some pretty stormy weather incoming over the next days. As forecast, we’ll see snowfall and gale force winds developing during Thursday afternoon.

We will be issuing formal Avalanche Reports again for the foreseeable future. Todays report – https://www.sais.gov.uk/southern-cairngorms/
