Snowless Lochnagar.

16th January 2025

It was a very windy day, as the shaky pics confirm!

There is very little snow left on the Glenshee to Lochnagar hills. The main Cairngorms are still hanging onto some, but with the freezing level over the summits, it continues to thaw.

Walkers starting up towards the plateau.

Lochnagar corrie and summit top right.

A view towards Beinn a Bhuird and the tors on Ben Avon. The snowy Corrie you can see is Corrie nan Clach, under the North Top of Beinn a Bhuird. It is said to be the remotest corrie in the Cairngorms, I doubt it’ll ever see much traffic! Currently, there is probably more snow in this picture than anywhere else in Scotland!
