Another snowy day.

27th March 2024

Another bonus snow day. Steady snowfall overnight through until afternoon. Accumulations are starting to gain depth but are not particularly widespread yet.

Forecast is for further falls and rain with strong winds on Thursday.

The bike ride in was a bit spicy this morning. Dry powdery snow at first, becoming much wetter on the return journey.

Although snow had depth it was very soft with no base at low levels. Ski touring would not have worked well here today!

Deep drifts above 700 metres or so. Paths and trails were difficult to follow above 800 metres.

Looking into Lochnagar Corrie, nothing much to see!

Noted one fairly significant weak layer within the snowpack otherwise it was unconsolidated powder. Lots of snow available to move around in forecasted strong winds.
