Fluctuating Temperatures

27th February 2024

We had some snowfall today but also a fluctuating freezing level. We didn’t quite get the full amount of snow that we were expecting. Strong winds mean that it has only accumulated in the most wind sheltered locations. Small cornices have started to form above these aspects and these will be at risk of collapse later on tomorrow as the freezing level rises up and over the summits during the afternoon.

Glas Maol – wind scoured slopes and wind slab in very sheltered locations only
