Cold on Lochnagar.

26th February 2024

A cloudy start but becoming clearer in the afternoon. Little snow overnight but it is still very much winter above 900 metres.

Deceptive below 700 metres as there is no snow but very much winter above 900 metres. Plenty grouse and deer enjoying the clear terrain.

A cloudy start to the day but started clearing late morning. The corrie with a frozen Lochnagar.

Fingers of rime ice developed from the North winds. It was cold in the winds today.

The South Sector. There were people climbing in the corrie today.

Looking along the plateau footpath. generally firm and icy underfoot. More snow is due on Tuesday.

A view towards the popular hill of Conachcraig. A dusting of snow helps pick out the footpath from the track.

A view towards Beinn a Bhuird.
