Thaw-freeze cycles.
22nd January 2024
A windy day with a gust of 124 mph recorded last night by the Cairnwell Weather Station. Mild as well with a lot more snow loss as indicated by the amount of water in the rivers this morning. However, as forecast the freezing level dropped with snow showers throughout the day. This will continue through until midday tomorrow, rising freezing levels and rain at all levels expected in the afternoon.
A walk up the local hill to 600 metres gave some glimpses to most of the main hills. Still looking white above 800 metres.
