Bright in the afternoon.

4th January 2024

It was a poor morning for views but by late morning the clouds started to lift. With the freezing level due to drop the snow cover is expected to become much firmer in coming day.

Taken when the cloud started to lift. Some areas are starting to lose their snow, general improvement above 800 metres. Slow going while crossing higher snowfields.

View across the Dee. Old snow should start to refreeze during tomorrow.

Despite recent milder temps, deep drifts from the Storm Gerrit days are still found down to low levels. Not a surprise to see the rivers flowing well.
