A cold windy day.

15th January 2024

Snow showers falling overnight finally eased early morning. Due to the strong winds and drifting snow there was some disruption on the roads with snow gates closed to Glenshee until late morning.

Some challenges for weather forecasters over the next period. Currently we have been forecasted light snow showers in the afternoon but have potential for significant snowfall. Worth checking latest weather forecasts before leaving for the hills.

Weather stations recording around -9 on the tops today, felt very cold in the strong Northerly winds. Not completely clear but here are some views from today.

Lochnagar. Older snow is very hard and icy.

The popular hill of Morven (872 metres).

View over to Mt. Keen (939 metres). Not much definition on the Westerly aspect but it looked pretty white. The lower lying ground in the foreground gives an idea of the patchy snow cover out of the Glens.
