Mild!

17th December 2023

Today was a repeat of yesterday with mild conditions –  plus 6 degrees centigrade at 930m – wet and windy. Significant snow loss overnight with only small patches remaining on the sub 950 metre hills. All the snow has soft, wet surface layers but is generally well bonded and stable. Freezing level staying above the summits for the majority of the next period, only lowering to around 1300 metres at the very end of the afternoon. Cooler conditions in place for a day before mild and wet weather returns on Wednesday.

Only small snow patches remaining at 900m. Wet and windy on Carn Aosda.
