Avalanches and views.
14th December 2023
First day back for the South Cairngorms.
Andy and I, accompanied by Rogue went off to have a look at an avalanche which was reported at the weekend.
New snow from 600 metres, with good cover above 900 metres.
View to Ben Avon with great looking cover on the high plateau area.
Andy and Rogue looking around the avalanche debris. The avalanche occurred at the weekend on Glas Maol.
Debris was reasonably big with the avalanche classed a size 3.
The Glas Maol lift iced up. It was just above freezing at this point but still felt cool in the wind. Becoming milder tomorrow.
Descending Glas Mal. Good underfoot conditions.
A benign day to start our Winter season.
