Around Etchachan.

13th April 2023

Bit of a border raid today! Cloudy with occasional snow showers, winds eased back making it an atmospheric day.

A quickish plod up past the Hutchison Hut, Loch Etchachan then Stacan Dubha. Deep baseless snow made it hard going in some areas but it is very localised cover. The freezing level lifted in the afternoon to above the summits.

A couple of phone snaps.

Creagan a’ Choire Etchachan. The impressive backdrop to the Hutchison Hut. The snow cover is very localised, deep in some locations. No new cornices were noted.

Above Loch Avon, view from Stacan Dubha. Castlegates Gully the obvious gully on the left, Hells Lum in the cloud and Stag Rocks on the right.
