Showers on Strong Winds

22nd March 2023

Not a particularly pleasant day with frequent showers driven in on strong winds. Lots of icy particles in the snow providing painful skin exfoliation unless you wore a well known tubular face covering and goggles! Cooler conditions first thing but the freezing level did creep up to around 1000 metres by midday. New accumulations are isolated and shallow.

A similar process tomorrow  – with light snowfall and then a steadily rising freezing level. Colder conditions forecast for the weekend.

Frequent blustery showers with drifting snow

Isolated shallow accumulations in wind sheltered locations only

Old snow patches limited to corrie rims, gully tops, burn lines etc.
