Cloudy Summits

4th February 2023

Cloud base around 1000 metres today with a fairly cold wind chill. The snow feels firmer than it has been and should become very firm overnight as the freezing level lowers to 600 metres with clear conditions expected. The forecast for tomorrow suggests that visibility will be a lot better than today with clear summits. Hopefully we’ll be able to get some decent photos! (As today’s were fairly limited…)

Although the thaw rate has slowed there was still plenty of water flowing over the Falls of the Glasallt.

Looking down the Glas Allt, across Loch Muick.

The Glas Allt path was clear of snow until after the waterfall. First patch of snow appears just before the footbridge.

Summit of Lochnagar disappearing into the cloud.
