Icy underfoot.

9th January 2023

It was a bright morning with cloud and snow showers rolling into the area early afternoon. The snow cover is very hard, crampons are particularly useful when ascending/descending steeper slopes.

Tuesday looks an interesting day, snow in the morning turning to rain in the afternoon, worth thinking about route selection if you intend to be on the hill. Likely to be slow going underfoot later in the day.

A bright start to the day. Beinn a Bhuird from Ballochbuie Forest. Currently still good cover on the higher summits.

Al C heading into Corrie Fionn. Al was reccing areas for an upcoming Winter skills course.

All snow was very hard and icy this morning. Group heading up to Glas Maol.

The area lost quite a bit of cover before the weekend. Thin icy cover on the  Glas Maol plateau.

Looking over to Carn Aosda.
