Melt/Freeze Cycles

28th December 2022

Firm conditions underfoot in places with ice and snow-ice present today. There’s going to another mini Melt/Freeze cycle tonight as the freezing level briefly blips up to 1400 metres, accompanied by some light rain. It will then rapidly fall back down to 700 metres overnight and remain there during the day. Some light snow and a bit of redistribution tomorrow –  but not expected to be significant.

Small cornice present on a NW aspect at around 1000m. Three small sets of debris underneath it.

East aspect sub 950m – Not holding much snow.

Distant shot to the main Cairngorms – better cover at highest elevations.
