Lochnagar

2nd April 2022

Cloudier than expected today but the very light winds made for pleasant conditions. Overnight snowfall to glen level settled as a general thin cover at lower elevations. Deeper above 800 metres causing a bit of floundering through the boulder fields!

Tomorrow’s forecast isn’t great with a rapidly rising freezing level during the afternoon and the winds increasing to gale force. Some precipitation is expected  – initially falling as snow but rapidly turning to sleet then rain at all levels. Probably a good idea to get up early and aim to be off the hill before the worst of it arrives…

Ben Avon plateau area holding snow

Last night’s snowfall thawed quickly in the glen this morning. High mountains on the Northern boundary of our forecast area holding onto the most snow.
