Lochnagar

27th March 2022

Another absolutely stunning day  – A frosty start but the day soon warmed up considerably. The route up Lochnagar from Glen Muick was busy with several young lads seen at 900 metres heading up hill with their tops off. Shorts were being worn by many people heading to the summit. The snow was firm and icy in the shade but had softened considerably in direct sunlight. There was hardly any wind and it was a delight just to find a quiet place and sit in the warmth of the sun for a while.

Tomorrow morning looks good but cloud will build during the afternoon. All change on Tuesday with a significant drop in air temperature and snow showers forecast. Time to remember that it really is still only March (just).

Black Spout, Right Hand Finish

Amazingly there is still some thin ice on Lochnagar.

Not a great deal of snow left on Lochnagar’s summit slopes…they’ve been soaking up the sun!
