Redistribution…

5th January 2022

All change!  Tomorrow will be a transitional day with redistribution being the main feature – As the winds pick up to become Gale Force Southerlies in the morning, the cold dry deposits on the generally South aspects will start to strip out and move over to the North facing slopes. Blizzard conditions are expected with the onset of new snowfall: It’s likely to be a difficult day for mountain travel.

Storm force NNW winds overnight stripped all loose snow from exposed locations on North and West aspects.

South and South-East aspects only have snow in the most wind sheltered locations. The Cairnwell.

Deep drifts are present: Over 80cm in places on the SSE aspect on the left of this photo.
