Lochnagar

28th January 2022

A rather breezy day in the hills today but nothing compared to what has been forecast for tomorrow …. Check out https://www.mwis.org.uk/forecasts/scottish/cairngorms-np-and-monadhliath

Today’s photos were taken whilst hiding behind a boulder – I think tomorrow I might have to tie myself to the boulder!

Being serious for a moment though – The forecasted wind speeds are excessive and we will definitely be having a hard think about what is and isn’t an acceptable risk given the expected conditions.

The details still need to be firmed up depending on the track of the next weather system but there may be the possibility of some heavier snowfall later on Sunday…. Keep praying to the snow gods – we are in desperate need!

Way too much green under the crags and way too little ice on the loch for the end of January…Cloud just dropping onto the cliff tops

Close up of the crags from the Meikle Pap col

Long shot onto the Lochnagar crags
