19th December 2019

Unfortunately the forecasted thaw has arrived depleting the snow cover particularly below 750 metres. Above this the snow is wet and soft but we have kept some!

Remaining ice on Lochnagar. The crags shrouded in cloud all day.

Poor visibility at the gear up point. There is still reasonable amounts of snow in the corrie. Currently thawing and very soft, crossing the boulders is slow going!

There are still areas of ice on the crag. I measured the temperature as +2.2 degrees in the Corrie.

Still bright away from the hill. Snowcover much depleted at lower levels.
