A sunny day.

11th March 2019

Great to be able to see something today!

With changeable strong winds over the last few days the snowpack has become more widespread. Overall, both stability and depths remains highly variable. Many areas are scoured.

Plenty wind and drifting snow first thing.

Raised footprints, evidence of strong winds.

A mix of soft (left) and hard windslab.

There has been a lot of snow moving around the hills over the last few days. This area had had the wind blowing across it last night.

New soft windblown deposits.

Passing walker.

Todays ‘formal’ pit site. I stopped and explored 3 different places. The snowpack is currently very variable in depths and stability.

Heading into Caenlochan.

Walker above Corrie Fionn.

A view over to the Cairngorms.

Runner going up, walkers coming down.

Looking to Beinn a Bhuird.

Great reports, can you tell me where I can find out which area is reported on each day? There are peaks and landmarks mentioned but I don’t know which area they relate to.

    Many thanks!

I really like all the detail in your blogs. Glad you have something to do now after the warm Feb.
