People, dogs & drones…

5th January 2019

Busy day on and around Lochnagar today – Lots of people and their dogs enjoying the conditions….and a drone buzzing around overhead – it will have got some good footage of the variable cloud that kept blowing in and then retreating. There is very little snow around but what is there is very firm. Quite a bit of ice underfoot as well – some slippy sections of path to watch out for. The cold, calm conditions have produced some beautiful well developed surface hoar.

The cloud eventually cleared to give a view. Black Spout broken in its lower and upper sections.

Southern sector Lochnagar, a couple of easy snow lines still complete.

Very lean conditions on plateau areas.

Variable cloud base during the morning. Looking East from Cuidhe Crom.

Well developed surface hoar due to the cold, calm conditions.

Some hard water ice underfoot….
