Poor visibility today.
5th February 2018
After yesterdays sunfest it was back to poor visibility and flat light. A very noticeable  change in the  new snow we had yesterday. Where it was exposed to the sun it has partly melted and refrozen leaving a crust in many places.
I visited a number of sites including yesterday’s small avalanche on Carn Aosda.
A couple of poor photos when the cloud lifted.

Many areas, such as the foreground here, are scoured or hold thin cover. Deeper snow is found only in previously very sheltered locations.

Human triggered avalanche site from Sunday above Glenshee Ski Centre. Snowboard tracks leading into this shallow steep gully. The surface layers failed lower down (debris can be seen). A strong sun helped the failure, apparently there were a number of indicators it was unstable. Not a particularly big or deep slide, could have given someone a ride down though.
