The 3 C’s!

20th January 2018

Nope, not a band but describes todays weather Clear, Calm and cold……always a winner!

Unfortunately we haven’t had the same amounts of snowfall that the West has had, but still looking good, due some more tomorrow followed by a brief (hopefully) thaw.

View over to Cairn Toul.

Beinn a Bhuird. Cover much better on the higher hills.

The West Ridge of Lochnagar. Todays route.

Looking up the ridge, not a huge amount of snow. Much icier on the right hand side where the wind had been blowing from.

Eagle Ridge/Parallel Buttress. I could hear some climbers today but never actually saw them.

Raeburns Gully. Perhaps a little lean. Cornices slowly building.

Plateau had a lot of breakable crust around.

Walkers above The Black Spout (the dark area on left). It was around -7 here. Glad it wasn’t windy!

Lochnagar Summit.
