Storm Doris

23rd February 2017

We weren’t really expecting much from Storm Doris, so it was a surprise to see we had significant snow overnight and it was still going!

There are some very deep drifts in places with many sheltered aspects holding significant amounts. On steep terrain deposits were found to be very unstable.

Not a great day for taking pictures, hopefully they give an idea of what was going on.

Deep drifts from low levels.

Most of today was in new snow underfoot with no visibility.

Some areas were stripped in the strong winds.

Deep snow elsewhere, careful route selection required today.

Typical today!
