The Black Spout, Lochnagar

2nd January 2017

It was a bright start today, windy of course. Wasn’t long before we were back in the gloom.

A bright start to the day.

It was cloudy from around 800 metres and felt cold in the North-Westerly winds.

Crags trying their best to look wintry. Crag apron could do with a lot more snow.

The Black Spout had firm snow all the way up it. It was also sheltered from the winds making it a good choice today.

The Black Spout. A pleasant winter route today. Perfect snow for crampons.
