Drifting again.

23rd February 2016

Snow was being moved around again. Winds were not excessive but the snow is very cold and dry so easily transported in moderate winds. Cover good above 700 metres although scoured on some aspects.

At the Col of t-Staigart Mor/Beag it was very windy with lots of snow moving around.

Of course the snow is collecting in lee locations. In fact it’s become very variable, with a mix of hard and soft windslab. Very easy, particularly on ski, to transition from hard ice to windslab quickly.
