Lochnagar getting blacker!

7th March 2015

It was a dry day but had been raining overnight. With such strong winds and mild temperatures, over 5 degrees in the corrie,  there was a lot of snow loss in the last 48 hours. Most of the easier gullies are complete with buttresses black. Some ice survives and with the freezing level dropping down tomorrow perhaps not all is lost.

There was debris down some gullies, mostly related to cornices.

The frozen Loch now starting to break.
