Slowly improving snow, shame about the weather!

17th February 2014

Not as wild as it has been, but the visibility was very poor again today. I skinned up towards Cairn Of Claise but stopped around 950 metres when I realised it wasn’t going to get any better. Snow stability feels like its improving in most locations. There are pockets of unstable snow all round the hill but these are generally avoidable, if you see them!
To make a point- just in front of the ski’s is a vertical 2.5 metre drop of a cornice onto a steep snow slope, it’s a challenge navigating your way round in such bad light.
