Dry with good visibility

3rd January 2013

Strong winds early this morning eased back to give a decent day with good visibility. Cover below 900 metres now is very patchy and you have to be prepared to get yourself up onto the higher Munros to get some decent cover. The corries still have plenty of depth packed into them, its just the thinner cover that is suffering a bit. Having said that, the photo below shows Loch Vrotachan at 750 metres completely iced over still.

This second shot was taking from Carn nan Sac and is looking North towards the main Cairngorm Mountains. Note the difference in snow cover.
