Today on Lochnagar.
Eagle Ridge left of centre, Parallel Gullies and looking into Raeburns on the right.

The Black Spout. Cornices looking a bit larger than they have recently.


An example of some of the new surface soft slab overlying the old hard snow referred to in the avalanche report can clearly be seen at 12cm (and also marked by pencil).

As part of the observations in the field a “Burp Test” may sometimes be used in assessing snow stability. Here it indicated an easy shear at 12cms as in photo above.

Last but not least today. Many sections of path are very icy. Bruise to prove it!
