Location, location, location

18th March 2011

Picking the right spot for snow profile is an important part of the field work day. Aspect, elevation, risk exposure, seasonal and daily considerations are all part of the choice. Here the red spot marks the location today. Quite nice skiing too. And the profile up close, had a reasonably well bonded snowpack. A 3cm graupel layer produced ragged shears. Still concerns about high steep, convex terrain at corrie rims.
