Grey Morning Profile on Carn Liath

26th March 2011

Saturday morning was overcast. The snow had not firmed up as much as we had hoped as we set off up Carn Liath and was soft right to the top. There were intermittent showers of light rain turning to wet snow above 800 metres.

There was a metre of snow at the profile site. Melt freeze grains, a crust midway and a thin layer of slush. No dry snow found today.

This is the book that the daily observations are recorded in. The information is then transferred to the computer and can be viewed on the SAIS site. With a brighter forecast we’re hoping for something a bit more inspirational for the blog tomorrow!
