Met Office & Corrie Kander
11th February 2011
The SAIS relies heavily on the weather forecast from the Met Office. It is a fundamental building block for preparing the avalanche forecast. Yesterday we had the opportunity to visit where this hard and difficulty work is done in Aberdeen. Photo shows the duty forecaster working on one of the many products they prepare every day. Thanks folks… Photo shows the fracture line that occured in last avalanche cycle, probably triggered by cornice fall. The ice looks good but probably not healthy to approach given the forecast for Saturday.
