Snow distribution and AMRT

30th January 2011

Very patchy distribution of new snow; lots of bare areas in lee with some accumulations observed of 10-15cm but not extensive across slopes. The Aberdeen Mountain Rescue Team did a simulated avalanche rescue exercise near Loch Vrotochan. The site was prepared by Glenshee Ski Centre. It takes a lot of effort to prepare and participate in this training. It’s good to know these folks are out there to respond if required. Thanks to everyone involved.
