Instabilities

1st January 2010

Instabilities in the snowpack are becoming more deeply buried and more widespread by elevation and aspect. The two avalanche deposits seen today (see poor light photo) ran about 150 metres and are big enough to seriously injure and/or bury a person. Note this is skiable/snowboarding terrain. Very careful route choices required.

The two snowboarders on Glas Maol took a safe line down. I saw them on the road later.
