Here’s a photo of our precious ice floating down the River Dee!

Flogged into Lochnagar today and wished I hadn’t! The burn is up, so crossing was done with care. Thigh deep wet snow in places and knee deep slush pools around to catch you out. The old water-ice is coming through so getting through the col with a strong and gusty wind was interesting. And then there was no view of the crag as the cloud was right down…so no decent photos for you. However it might just be depressing to see the crags blackening off! The freezing level is set to remain above the summits at 2000 metres. Cornice collapse will continue to be a major issue as this does have the potential to trigger the moderately bonded slopes beneath. So take care out there and think about what’s above you.
