Some snow forecast!

2nd January 2008

There wasn’t an awful lot happening on the hill today with lighter snow arriving than expected. It was however getting colder and windier the whole time we were out. The old snow was starting to firm up but hadn’t completely refrozen at all levels. Whilst it was snowing, it was only light and there was literally a trace on the ground. It has however continued to precipitate throughout the day, so the cover will continue to improve.
Right, thursday afternoon we have been forecast frequent, heavy snow showers. These will be arriving on 50mph ESE winds so we are expecting windslab to develop in the afternoon. The freezing level is also lowering to 300 metres and temperatures of -6 are forecast for 1000 metres.
So things are starting to sound a bit more promising. It’s unlikely to be a pleasant day so take it easy.

Sam
