11th January 2007

The Ski Area is looking white although there is not any depth in the snow at that level. We were very impresed with the volume of snow that had fallen overnight. Always exciting creeping into a corrie in poor conditions after heavy snowfall.I had to send the wife first. Some deep unstable snow around in sheltered areas above 850 metres. It did snow down to Braemar but turned to rain by late morning much to the local schoolchildrens’ disgust. We’ve still got a net gain in the hills. It’ll be interesting to see if the Angus Glens managed to hang on to any.

Looks like Friday will be Wet Warm and Windy. There will probably be a bit of action with the rapid rise in freezing level during the morning. We won’t have as much rain as the West (do we ever?)so fingers crossed we don’t lose too much.

Paul.
