Strong Sunlight

10th April 2022

It definitely felt like April when the sun came out today: There is some strength in it now. That combined with the light winds made for quite a sweaty uphill experience! The recent windslab is starting to consolidate in the slightly milder conditions but is still soft and trail breaking is required if you get off the beaten track….

It looks like we are in for a bit of a change with the wind swinging around to the SE and increasing back up to gale force on Monday, and the freezing level going over the summits for a time on Tuesday.

Deep, soft snow in wind sheltered locations.

Glas Maol: Mostly firm snow in Coire Fionn.

Won’t take much to strip the snow off  The Cairnwell (933m)

Creag Leacach from Meall Odhar. Superficial snow on West aspects.

Cairn of Claise from Meall Odhar. Mostly thin cover with drifts in wind sheltered locations.
