A Windy day.

4th January 2022

Nice to see some new snow down to the glens this morning but it was accompanied by very strong NW winds. Quite feisty on the hill, plenty deep drifts around in any sheltered hollow or burn line. Definitely full winter conditions again!

Show conditions

With very strong NW winds and lots of drifting snow it felt like a proper winter’s day out on the hill. Snow showers at all levels. Carn Aosda’s sheltered SW aspects starting to look white.

Show scouring

The wind exposed slopes not looking as pretty. Across Glenshee’s middle valley, the top of Sron na Gaoithe and the munro of Cairn o Claise in the cloud.

Pitsite

Typical just now. deep drifts in the most sheltered of locations otherwise scoured.
