The Scottish Avalanche Information Service issues information to support permitted activity under current Scottish Government guidance.

This blog is intended to provide hazard and mountain condition information to help plan safer mountain trips.

Strong winds, cold temperatures and a plentiful supply of readily available deposits produced constant heavy drifting today resulting in a rapid build up of windslab in very sheltered locations – Gully tops, steep burn lines, sharply defined corrie rims etc. The video was taken at around 800 metres with conditions worsening with altitude.
