Shallow unstable snowpack.

28th January 2020

The area is certainly looking whiter now but generally its shallow cover throughout. What is there is very unstable but it lacks any significant depth at the moment. Plateau and exposed areas are still thin and icy.

Plenty of new powdery snow around today but unfortunately there was little depth.

Old snow is very hard and icy. New unstable windslab has developed only in lee locations, mainly corrie rims. The deepest areas were mostly avoidable.
