Post thaw Lochnagar.

17th January 2020

I had a wander up Black Spout today. Quite a bit of Post holing at first but surface crust became stronger with altitude.

Lochnagar still has good coverage and is icy, hopefully the conditions will continue to improve in the current cold temperatures.

The Gelder Burn and the crags of Lochnagar behind. The young trees have been planted to eventually give coverage to salmon spawning.

Crags still have good coverage. Can’t vouch for quality!

The classic Raeburns Gully on the right.

The Pinnacle face (left) and the West Buttress.

Good cover in lower section of The Black Spout.

the Right Branch gives some easy climbing.

Great views today. A white looking Beinn a Bhuird in the distance..
